Are you wondering how to celebrate the end of the school year? This is one of my favorite ideas for end of school year party!
Why not have a luau party?! This is one of my favorite ideas for end of school year party. There are many fun classroom spring party ideas that can be turned into a luau party theme. I’ve used this theme in my second grade classroom for the last 3 years and it’s been a hit!
Food for Luau Party
Snack: Donut Pineapples & Little Hugs
I like to begin by wrapping my table with grass skirts and placing a few pineapple table decorations on tope. I got everything from the dollar store. These are great because if you spend $5 upfront, they can be used year after year. Many dollar stores will have luau themed items in the early spring time.
Drinks for luau party: The perfect drink when hosting a luau party theme for kids is Little Hugs barrels with umbrella straws! They’re super cheap and automatically come in various flavors. This year I found out they even have a tropical flavor to follow the theme even better!
Food for luau party: These adorable pineapple donuts are ALWAYS a hit! The kids will gobble them down in no time flat. The best part is how easy it is to make this delicious luau party food. My first year I outlined the leaves on a piece of green cardstock. Then, I layered a few pieces of paper and cut through all of them over the outline. Before I knew it, I had a class set of leaves. I taped a toothpick to each and I was ready to go with the super cheap and adorable treat. This year I decided to be lazy and use these pic from Amazon. You can find them HERE if you’re feeling lazy too! 🙂
Aren’t these the cutest?!

Games for Luau Party:
This is where the memories are made! I find the games below work great for second grade because they can do all of them without any adult supervision at the station. This is super helpful if you’re unable to get classroom volunteers. If you’re using this for an end of school year party ideas for 3rd grade and up, you’ll most likely be good to go too! This is still a great first grade or kindergarten end of the year party idea. You just might want to try to find a couple parent volunteers to help keep things under control and running smoothly.
Game #1: Inflatable Flamingo Ring Toss
This games is rated an A+ (by me) for it’s silliness factor! Kids think it’s hilarious to wear these pink flamingos on their heads. I basically have two games going at once. Kid #1 is the thrower and kid #2 is the catcher. The others in the group are in line and cheering on their classmates. Once they throw all of the rings, they switch jobs. Then, the kids in line get to try it out. They usually go through the rotation pretty quickly and get to play a few times. This year I had no parents to supervise due to Covid. The kids did a great job taking turns and managing this themselves.

Game #2: Tiki Can Toss
Another crowd pleaser here! This game consists of 6 light-weight, plastic cans and three small, light-weight bean bags. This is a great indoor game because everything is so light you don’t have to worry about things getting broken. It’s a pretty quiet game, but I do recommend doing it over a carpet so you don’t hear the plastic cans falling every time.

Game #3: Luau Themed BINGO
BINGO is always a good time no matter what age you are! This luau party game is one I like to save for last so we can play as a whole class. As the BINGOs come rolling in, I hand out candy to the winners. Hint: If you have students leave the candy laying on their desks, you can see who still hasn’t won. The longer you let the game go, the better chance those students will win too!

Crafts for Luau Party
This is a must have. The kids love filling the spaces with fun, bright colors. Please know, they will NOT finish this during one of the stations. Lucky, this is for the end of the school year party so there will most likely be more time to finish after the festivities are through. I like to end the day with a short video while the kids relax and finish their mask masterpieces.

How to Dress for Luau Party
Don’t leave your students wondering what a luau party costume looks like! Have a lei and sunglasses ready for them at the start of the party. Not only is it a great gift, but it also helps them to really get into the mood of the party. I found mine one Amazon HERE and HERE.
Other Classroom Party Ideas:
- Use a beach backdrop from the dollar store as a photo prop.
- Other luau themed bunting and banners hanging around the classroom from the dollar store and Oriental Trading.
- KidzBop playlist from YouTube playing in the background.
Do you think your class will like these ideas for an end of school year party? I hope it gave you great classroom spring party ideas along with fun luau party theme ideas!
If you’re ready to try it out, this post should set you up with everything you need from start to finish. My favorite part about this classroom party is that it goes up in 15 minute, the supplies are super cheap and almost everything is reusable year after year. They’re so versatile that I’ve even used them to throw a family party here at my house!
